Brazil-Australia 9-8

Summary. The quarter of finals of the World League Super Final start here at the Italcementi swimming pool in Bergamo, where the final will take place on 28 June. The first team qualified for the semifinals is Brazil that defeated Australia by 9-8, at the end of a match where the result was always very uncertain. Delgado and Guilherme Gomes marked the decisive break by 9-7 in the middle of last period. The players of Ratko Rudic, who will play against the winner of the match between China and Serbia, are the revelation of the tournament while the Australian can be proud of their match. For Brazil this is the most prestigious result ever.

The US team, at first leading 3-0, took the lead again by 6-4 with the goals of Mann, Azevedo and Bowen. Hungarians did not score for 11'. The match was decided at the last minute by two penalties: generous the one transformed by Denes Varga for 7-7, decisive the one shot by Azevedo for the definitive 8-7.

Croatia-Italy 14-12 after penalties (10-10)

Summary. The Olympic Champions of Croatia eliminate the home team of Italy at the penalties: they win 14-12 and reach the U.S.A. in the semifinals. Leading 3-1, Croatia was able to compensate for the Italian comebacks (5-4, 6-5), speeding up for two times: on the 8-6, at the end of the third period, and on the 10-8, at three minutes to the end. In both occasions, however, Croatia tied, managing to give Italy the definitive K.O. only at the penalties. Great match by the left handed Sukno, who scored three times. Great character by the Italians but it was not enough.
