The women’s European Junior Waterpolo Championships moved today to a new level. Today at the Centro Federale di Ostia was the second day of the championships. In the first game Great Britain defeated Portugal 14-6. Among the Portuguese the 4 goals by the their team leader Reis, who reaches 7 goals after the three goals he had scored on Sunday morning, are to be mentioned. In the second game on schedule Greece defeated Slovakia 16 to 4 : among the Greek team 4 of them were scored by Eleftheria Plevritrou, who reaches 8 goals in the scorers’ classification; among the Slavic team Peckova and Krivdova scored 2 goals each. Later on Serbia and Turkey got into the pool and the Slavs won 8 to 4, at the end of a game that was fought hard till its very end. The first match of the afternoon saw the very narrow victory (8/7) of Russia against Spain, among two of the favorites for the tournament’s final victory : with the Spanish player Forca scoring 3 goals whereas among the Russians Kravchenko was the best scorer, with two goals scored in the second part of the game. Moreover, Holland flatly defeated Hungary (11-7) with 3 goals scored by the Hungarian player Gurisatti and by the Dutch Drewes. Italy easily defeated Ukraine (17-4) , through the astonishing performance of Gragnolati, who stands out among the players of the Setterosa by scoring 13 goals and reaching the top of the goal-scorer classification.
