Great Britain will be the Italy's opponent team Thursday evening in the quarterfinals of the Women's European Junior Waterpolo Championships, being held at the Centro Federale of Ostia until the 14th September.
Today afternoon the team trained by Theo Nousis beat Serbia 10 to 7 (3-1,3-2,1-2,3-2) in the eighth finals.
"It happens for the first time in our history to be qualified to the quarterfinals" said the coach at the end of the game "and we are very happy for this. Today we played a very good game. We could have done much better when we were playing in numeric superiority (5/11 and one failed penalty that was caught) but it is almost 50% on average. Italy is the favorite team and they have an excellent goalkeeper. We are a young team with only two players born in '95 and all the others are younger".
The thirteen girls all come from different cities." During the year they train twice or three times per week with their clubs" as the English coach explains " and we met the last time in Manchester". Serbia played 2/4 in numeric superiority.
