The preliminaries of the Free Routine Duet opened this morning The Synchronized Swimming Mediterranean Cup, taking place at the Aquatic Centre in Ostia. Marta Murru and Francesca Zunino reached the finals and were awarded with the third best score. The Italian team scored 76.4 (22,8 for Execution, 31,6 for Artistic Impression and 22 for Difficulty). The preliminaries were dominated by the Spaniards Alisa Ozhogiina and Sara Saldana, with a score of 77,7333. The Free Routine Duet final is scheduled on Sunday morning at 10.00, whereas the preliminaries of the Free Routine Team are scheduled today, at 17.00. At 19.30 the Opening Ceremony will take place, with the performance of the Russian Svetlana Romashina, who won three gold medals at World Championships in Kazan. In the afternoon, instead, Italy progressed to the Free Team Routine final (scheduled on Sunday at 18.00), thus obtaining the third best score in the preliminaries. Alessia Braga, Costanza Brogioli, Beatrice Lazzaro, Marta Murru, Carmine Rocchino, Lucrezia Ruggiero, Isotta Sportelli and Francesca Zunino scored 77.5333 (22,9 for Execution, 31,3333 for Artistic Impression, 23,3 for Difficulty). The Spanish team, that scored 81.8 placed first before the Italian team. Behind the Italian team we have Greece, scoring 76. Later, at 19.30, the Opening Ceremony took place at and it was highlighted by the performance of Svetlana Romashina, winner of three gold medals at the Worlds being held in Kazan.
