Settecolli Clear. Report heats second day

The juniores world record of Nicolò Martinenghi in 50m-breaststroke and the second italian performance of all time of Federica Pellegrini in tissue in 100m-freestyle stand out in the heats of the second day of 53rd Trofeo Settecolli/Clear – International Swimming in Rome.
The competition starts with female 100m-butterfly and male 200m-butterfly. After five heats, the thirty-years-old Dutch Inge Dekker, World champion in 50m in Shanghai 2011, reaches the first time in 100m with 58”61, three hundredths ahead the Canadian Penny Oleksiak, 15 years younger than her, who closes the race in 58”64. Fifth and sixth time for the Italian swimmers Elena Di Liddo with 59”36 and Ilaria Bianchi with 59”58. The 200m are decided at the third and last heat with the Hungarian star Laszlo Cseh that reaches the best time. When he doesn’t swim, he loves fishing and taking photographs. He stops the time after 1’58”10 in lane four. In lane three Federico Bussolin is behind with 1’58”48, two hundredths ahead the Venezuelan Marcos Lavado who swims in lane six (1’58”50). In 100m-backstroke, the best times are 59”59 of the Canadian Kylie Masse, who won in 50m with 27”82 yesterday, and 54”63 of Niccolò Bonacchi (Esercito/Nuotatori Pistoiesi), who won the silver in 50m with 25”14 yesterday.
The female 400m-medley are signed by Italy: Carlotta Toni with 4’48”02, Luisa Trombetti with 4’48”55 and Sara Franceschi with 4’49”40. They reach the best times of the morning. The Hungarian David Verraszto and Benjamin Gratz are ahead in male 400m-medley with 4’13”58” and 4’19”60, respectively, and the Italian Federico Turrini and Lorenzo Tarocchi are behind with 4’22”34 and 4’22”40, respectively. Federica Pellegrini arrives with 100m-freestyle. She swims in lane five in seventh heat. Her fans follow her movements. The 2012 London Olympic champion Ranomi Kromowidjojo is present in lane four. The Dutch swimmer obtains the first time of 53”41, the Canadian Penny Oleksiak reaches the second time of 53”50. The Rio Olympic standard-bearer obtains the third time of 53”99, her third best time of all times and second with tissue swimsuit, after her 53”55 fixed on 7th March 2009 (Italian record) and the 53”78 fixed on last 20th April in Riccione (the best Italian performance in tissue). Other stars of Settecolli are the Italian Gabriele Detti and Marco Belotti who lead the preliminary ranking in 200m-freestyle ex aequo with 1’48”47. Sebastiaan Verschuren (Holland) and Alex Di Giorgio rank third ex aequo with 1’48”71.
Eleven 50m-breaststroke heats (five female and six male heats). The Lithuanian World record holder in 50m and in 100m, Ruta Meilutyte is the fastest in the morning with 31”01, four hundredths ahead Martina Carraro and with 31”24 from the new-qualified for Rio Arianna Castiglioni. The south African vice-World champion, Cameron Van Der Burgh is the first among males with 27”13, followed by Andrea Toniato with 27”35 and Nicolò Martinenghi (NC Brebbia, 1° agosto 1999) who fixed Juniores World record with 27”48.  The previous Juniores World record was fixed by the Slovenian Peter John Stevens with 27"74 in Dubai on 30th August 2013. The previous personal record of Martinenghi is 27"83 fixed on last 1st May at the Energy Standard in Lignano Sabbiadoro. The standard time junior for the European record is 27"16. Fourth time in 50m-breaststroke for the Lithuanian Giedrius Titenis with 27”52 (yesterday, star in 100m-breaststroke with the event record improved twice).
The slow races of female 800m-freestyle and male 1500m-freestyle close the competitions. The English woman Abby Smith and the Venezuelan Franco Lupoli are ahead with 9’00”34 and 15’56”81, respectively.
