The wait is ended. This morning the 54th edition of Trofeo Settecolli/International Swimming competition starts at the Stadio del Nuoto in Rome. The show continues until Sunday 25th June
The 50m-backstroke opens the races in programme. Six female and males heats. The Dutch Maike De Waard is ahead all with 28''01, with Silvia Scalia (CC Aniene) ranking seventh with 28”50. Matteo Milli is the fastest among the males with 25''23. The 28-years-old roman –trained by Alfredo Caspoli and member of the SMGM Team Lombardia – breaks his personal limit of four hundredths, ranking ahead the Italian record holder Niccolò Bonacchi (Esercito/Nuotatori Pistoiesi) with 25''54 and the Irish Shane Ryan with 25''62
The Canadian Mary Sophie Harvey fixes the best time in 400m-freestyle with 4'12''15, ahead the Hungarian and European champion in London 2016 Boglarka Kapas with 4'12''20. The 26-years-old member of Esercito and Nuoto Livorno Martina De Memme ranks fifth with 4'13''88. Among the males, the best time is reached by the European and Olympic bronze champion Gabriele Detti. The Italian record holder – trained by the Federal technician and his uncle Stefano Morini at the Federal Centre in Ostia, and member of Esercito and SMGM Team Lombardia – reaches the time of 3'47''47, ranking behind the South Korean Tae-Hwan Park (gold medal in Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 and in World Championships in Melbourne 2007 and Shangai 2011) with 3'49''15 and the Olympic champion Mack Horton with 3'49''40, fascinated by the air present at the Stadio del Nuoto in Rome

Among males, the Olympic, World and continental champion Adam Peaty wins with 59''97: the Lithuanian Giedrius Titenis, unique to break the minute in the morning, ranks behind the 22-years-old British swimmer and the enfant prodige from Varese Nicolò Martinenghi (NC Brebbia) with 1'00''65 (28''06 at 100m, the best time after the time reached by Peaty). Lorenzo Antonelli (Larus Nuoto) ranks fifth with 1'00''90 (his second personal performance) and the Italian record holder Fabio Scozzoli (Esercito/Imola Nuoto) ranks sixth with 1'01''11
Ranomi Kromowidjojo is very fast in 50m-butterfly. The Dutch star, twenty-seven years next 20th August, reaches the time of 25''72, valid as the third seasonal world performance, behind the 25''51 reached by the Japanese Ikee Rikako and the 24''76 reached by the World and Olympic gold medal Sarah Sjostrom in Barcelona the last 14th June. The Italian swimmers Elena Di Liddo (CC Aniene), ranking ninth with 26''78, ahead Silvia Di Pietro (Carabinieri/CC Aniene) with 26''81, are excluded by the Final A. Also the male 100m-butterfly is “orange”-signed with Joeri Verlinden ahead all with 52''50. The male 50m-freestyle closes the first morning session. The World bronze medal in Kazan 2015 Bruno Fratus reaches the best time in 21''81. Luca Dotto (Carabinieri/Larus Nuoto), the first excluded swimmer from Final race, ranks ninth with 22''46, ten hundredths delay behind the Hungarian Maxim Lobanovszkij, ranking eighth
The afternoon finals start at 6.30 pm and will be live broadcasted on Raidue at 6.50 pm
