Third day at the federal centre of Trieste of the women's pre-Olympic tournament that will award the last two passes for the Tokyo Games. The group stage closes; then tomorrow the quarter finals, on 23rd January the decisive semifinals and on 24th January the finals.
Group B. Greece finished top of the group with an 8-5 win over Hungary. The decisive break for the Hellenic team, ahead 3-2 at halftime, came in the third half with two goals by Eleftheria Plevritou for the 5-2 that extinguished the Hungarians' ambitions, who paid for the heavy 4 out of 18 in extra player. Israel and Kazakhstan ended in a draw, but thanks to the better goal difference with the second placed team (Hungary), Kazakhstan finish the group in third place. Israel, down 5-3 and 6-4, came back until Bogachenko's 6-6. In the final, Muravyeva and Tal's back-and-forth battle made it 7-7.
Group A. Four goals apiece by Genee and Van de Kraats for the Netherlands who won 15-6 over France. A success that doesn't allow the Dutch to close in the lead of the group: the goal difference with the third classified team rewards Italy that in the opening day had won with 13 goals against the French.
Nine players scored, with five goals from Queirolo and Palmieri and four from Garibotti and Giustini, for Italy that dominated Slovakia 26-4. The match was never in discussion, the gap between the two teams was too wide, with the Setterosa already ahead 13-1 after two halves.
