Today it was the starting day of the of the Women’s European Junior Waterpolo Championships, hosted by the Centro Federale di Ostia. The opening ceremony started at 18.30, featuring several authorities among whom the LEN and FIN President Paolo Barelli, of the President of the Organizing Committee and of FIN Lazio Giampiero Mauretti e of the authorities from the Municipality of Rome. During the first day of the championships very easy victories by Holland, Greece, Slovakia, Spain and Russia, who defeated Israel, Great Britain, Portugal, Turkey and Serbia. The Italian girls, instead, flatly defeated Switzerland (33-5), in the final match of the day. Top goal-scorer of the day was the Italian Grignolati, who scored 9 goals.
