The second day promises to be more challenging than the previous one. At the Stadio del Nuoto 27 Azzurri have obtained the pass for the A finals and 35 for the B finals. The fastest in the morning were the Dutch Kira Toussaint in the 100 backstroke, who barely misses the record of the event (59"96) with 1'00"06 and the Olympic champion of the 100 frogs in Rio 2016, the British Adam Peaty, who swam the 50 breaststroke in 26"74, just over a tenth of second from his own record of the Sette Colli (26"61 established in 2017). The Italians Ilaria Cusinato (Fiamme Oro Roma/Team Veneto) and Matteo Milli (SMGM Team Lombardia) arrived first respectively in 400 IM and 100 backstroke. Cusinato, trained by the federal technician Stefano Morini at the federal center of Ostia, closes in 4'41"37, fourth personal performance all time; Matteo Milli, trained by Alfredo Caspoli, who yesterday won the bronze medal in the 50 backstroke, will also start his A Final in lane 4 with 54"79. Italian record holders Federica Pellegrini and Luca Dotto did not disappoint expectations and will fight for a medal. The world champion of 200 freestyle, who swims for the Aniene and trained by Matteo Giunta, ends at 54"05, fourth heat time, not far from this evening opponents. The European distance champion, expected to be confirmed at Glasgow, enters the final with the second time (48"95), only behind the twenty-one years old Brazilian Pedro Spajari, who gives his best with 48"80. With Luca, in the final with the fourth time (49"17), his relay team mate will be Alessandro Miressi (Fiamme Oro Roma/CN Torino, trained by Antonio Satta), European junior champion in 2016.
