Situated on Florida’s central east coast, the Greater Daytona Beach/Volusia County Area is one of Florida’s best vacation destinations. The area also is known for its lazy rivers, unsurpassable weather, forests, quiet towns and natural, scenic, "real Florida" beauty.

Daytona Beach is best known for its 23 miles of world-famous sand beach, salt and fresh water fishing, boating and many internationally-famous events.

Daytona Beach also is known for the Museum of Arts and Sciences and the Center for Florida History. During August on odd-numbered years, the Daytona Beach area hosts the London Symphony Orchestra and more than 70 other performances during the Florida International Festival.

Further south is New Smyrna Beach, a beachfront community with a quiet charm and 13 miles of white sand beach, warm ocean breeze and the Canaveral National Seashore, a pristine natural beach habitat. The backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon offer fishing pleasure. Ocean fishing yields redfish, grouper, tarpon and many others. The Atlantic Center for the Arts draws artists from throughout the world.

West Volusia is an outdoor treasure. Visitors can scuba dive or swim in natural springs, a habitat for the Florida manatee. The beautiful St. John’s River, is a part of Florida’s history and is designated as an American Heritage River. It winds its way along the County’s western borders beneath a canopy of Florida oaks and cypress trees. The area is a mecca for inland fishing and boating and is internationally known for unspoiled wilderness parks with ample hiking and bird-watching opportunities. Historic Hontoon Island State Park and Gemini Springs parks are among a number of recreational parks and nature preserve areas. The Pioneer Settlement for Creative Arts focuses on the activities of early pioneers. DeLand, a world-class skydiving center and home to Stetson University, is known for its quaint shops, historic past, museums and art.

Little more than an hours drive away are some of Florida’s other popular attractions—Walt Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Center and historic St. Augustine. Visitors find it convenient to stay in the Daytona Beach Area and day-trip to other Central Florida attractions.
