The following national teams have registered for Rescue 2002 to date: United States, Great Britain, Canada, Switzerland, Macedonia, Surf Lifesaving-Australia, Royal Life Saving Society-Australia, Royal Life Saving Society-United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, Czech Republic, Spain, South Africa, Egypt, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Sweden and Taiwan - Republic of China.
In addition, interclub teams from the United States, Great Britain, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, France, Spain, New Zealand, Denmark, Canada and South Africa have registered to compete as well.
Better Late Than Never
The March 1 deadline for sending in registration forms and fees has passed, but any competitor wishing to participate in Rescue 2002 can still send in their completed form and appropriate fees. Late registrants will be subject to a late fee, but you don’t want to miss the top lifesaving event of the year. Forms can be obtained on-line at

Practice Pools
The Rescue 2002 Executive Committee has secured several pools in the Daytona Beach area, including the competition pool in Orlando, for practice times leading up to the event. Visit

Ironman/Ironwoman
Competitors cover a 1200m course that includes a swim leg, a board leg, a ski leg, and a beach sprint finish. (Masters Ironwoman does not include the ski leg.)
The sequence of legs is determined by draw at the commencement of the world championship program. The same sequence is also be used for the Taplin Relay.
Swim Leg: From a beach start, swimmers enter the water, swim around the swimming course buoys and return to the beach.
Board leg
: Board paddlers enter the water with their boards, paddle around the board course buoys and return to the beach.Ski leg: Ski paddlers paddle around the ski course buoys and return to shore.
Run leg: Runners round 1 turning flag, pass the other flag on the shoreward side, and continue to the finish between the 2 finish flags.
